The owners of this home wanted more privacy along their boundary, which runs beside a public footpath, and a tidier way to deal with their bins at the side of the house.
We built a tall timber fence along the length of the path and around the side of the property, using pressure-treated posts and rails. The fence is double-boarded, so there are no gaps to see through and it looks just as smart from the path as it does from inside the garden. At the side of the house, we built an enclosed bin store with its own gate, keeping the bins out of sight but easy to get to on collection day.
Treated timber like this weathers naturally from green to a softer silver-brown over time, and can be stained if the owners prefer a different colour later on.
Working in Prudhoe
Footpaths and back lanes run between many of the residential streets in Prudhoe, which means plenty of gardens back directly onto a public route. A solid, well-built fence is the simplest way to make a garden like this feel private and secure.
