New Patio & Lawn Installation

Prudhoe, UK

← All Projects

A complete refresh for this garden, with old bushes and shrubs removed and a new low-maintenance layout created. We installed a porcelain patio, laid fresh turf, and finished the area with grey jointing compound.

About This Project

Before we started, the back garden was mostly red gravel, with a small area of tired concrete slabs outside the back door and a row of overgrown shrubs along the fence. It was hard to use and didn't make the most of the space behind the house.

We cleared the shrubs and stripped out the gravel and old paving, using a mini digger to level the ground and prepare a solid base. The new patio is laid in large-format grey porcelain, running from the back door along the side of the house, with a step down to a second paved area and an inspection cover set neatly into the paving so it stays accessible. A strip of decorative stone chippings separates the patio from the lawn, which keeps the edge crisp and stops grass creeping onto the slabs.

The rest of the garden was laid with fresh turf, giving the garden a proper lawn for the first time. Porcelain is a good choice for gardens like this: it's hard-wearing, doesn't stain easily and only needs an occasional wash to keep it looking new.

Working in Prudhoe

Prudhoe is our home town, so jobs like this are close to home. Many of the newer estates here have rear gardens that were handed over with gravel or basic paving, and a patio and lawn renovation is one of the most effective ways to turn that into usable outdoor space.
