Hedge trimming is a big part of our year, and this page shows a selection of hedges we've looked after across Northumberland, with before and after photos of several of them.
The work varies a lot from garden to garden. Along a long private driveway, we cut tall hedges on both sides back to clean, straight faces. On a corner plot, an overgrown front hedge that had spread over the pavement was brought back to a neat, low line. In other gardens we reduced the height and width of hedges that had grown out over lawns, driveways and roads, using ladders and long-reach equipment to get a level top on the taller ones.
In every case we shape the hedge so it's slightly narrower at the top than the bottom, which lets light reach the lower branches and keeps the base thick, and we clear away all the clippings when we've finished.
